Voice of the African Child works in partnership with the brilliant Stand By Me team! (www.standby.me) on the project work in the slums of Nairobi. We are on Ky’angombe slums near Kitengela. Our goal is to ensure that chidren are removed from the slums through education family support and skills training for guardians who seem to have no choice but to be on the slums. VOAC collaborate with the local governor to identify means for a better future for the children residing on the slums.
Every child has the basic rights to clean water, secure shelter to live in, food and access to health care. The children on the slums are denied this basic right. That is why VOAC advocate for the promotion of education for every child on the slum, to move them out of slums and eradicate the continous cycle of a slum mentality.
